Shanna believes in educating family members about mental illness, and teaching loved ones the mindfulness skill sets needed to manage a family member’s mental illness from within the home. In her work with clients, Shanna focuses on the foundations of wellness -- nutrition, sleep and exercise -- as well as structure and balance in one’s daily activities. A graduate of Salem State University (SSU), Shanna is trained in mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy. At SSU, she worked on the President’s Advisory Committee on multicultural issues. Before joining the team at Ellenhorn, Shanna worked for a North Shore agency whose focus was stabilizing clients in crisis within the family. This background serves Shanna well in her work at Ellenhorn as family coach and Open Dialogue facilitator. She was formerly a milieu counselor and house manager at the Brackett House.
